Sturmovik will be the most hardcore game on the the latest consoles, and the toughest gamer’s game you’ll ever play. The Eastern European gamer man enough to cobble together a PC capable of running the game is the kind of player who doesn’t need things dumbed down, and 1C are showing the same faith in console gamers here. Already the greatest combat flight sim on the PC, IL-2 is a game made by Russians for the hardest of the hardcore. There’s an easy Arcade setting if Ace Combat is your thing, but with assists off it’s the same PC simulation where every aspect of the plane’s handling falls under your thumb and every wrong turn can end in a stall and a hundred mile an hour trip into the side of a mountain. The big surprise is that 1C are daring to bring it to consoles almost unchanged. Sturmovik is a game already tested and polished over half a decade by thousands of PC gamers around the world. Sturmovik is a simulation, and it is perfect. Every plane is an inch-by-inch recreation of the real thing inside and out, and the damage system so accurate, a single bullet in the right place on the right plane could puncture your fuel tank and blow you out of the sky an inch or two to the right or left and it might have no effect at all. ![]() ![]() Initially, when seeing the movie, I believed E. IL-2 knows where planes keep their engines, their fuel, their pilots and their ammunition, and can register unique hits on all of them. As mentioned above, Zangief was a dumbed-down villain and Chun Li was a reporter who works closely with E. This isn’t Ace Combat or HAWX, where your plane’s energy bar is gradually reduced to nought by enemy fire. The planes in Sturmovik fly in the game because they’re built to fly in real life so sophisticated is the physics model Russian developers 1C have designed. I personally am less worried about just frames than I am about parrying, because once again parrying also is a design decision that represents what you what to emphasize in the game.IL-2 Sturmovik is as real as it gets. My argument isn't that this will ruin the game or make it unplayable, just that it is a design decision that design decisions are debatable. In my original post I said myself that I am of two minds about it and will need to know more to really have a real preference one way or the other. I'm not speaking from the perspective of someone seeing just frames and being scared to play the game by them as some seem to be, but rather just stating that this is a design decision that represents what they want to emphasize. If just frames just lead to an extra 10% damage on some combos then it's not really that big of an impact, if just frames become the necessary defacto combos because it represents such huge variance in damage or opportunity then it becomes a meaningful part of the game. I mean it depends on what it unlocks and the practicality of what it unlocks. Is that exciting to you as a spectator? Is that the way you want matches to be decided? Based on what's effectively RNG that has nothing to do with the tactical/strategic elements of the game? In my opinion, that's a worse experience than a game without Just frames. Their opponent wins because they were able to perform a Perfect. One player loses because they weren't able to perform a Perfect. It'll just be RNG for failure instead of success. ![]() The result is that even for the highest level of Street Fighter 6 players, Perfects will still be RNG. tekken 7 is already dumbed down enough so that even optimal combos arent. That's by design, so even when pro players believe they can reliably execute a Perfect, that doesn't mean they can.
